About the Spanish Immersion Trip
We are excited to offer a homestay immersion program with Colegio Delibes, a renowned language school for young learners. Up to 32 students and four teacher chaperones will spend a week in Salamanca, Spain, studying Spanish and experiencing the culture firsthand. The program includes guided tours of the city, museums, and palaces led by local experts. This program will help to increase student proficiency in the Spanish language.

Students who participate must:
Be enrolled in an SMS 8th grade Spanish class (or be a SMS eighth grader taking Spanish 3L1 at GHS). Students who are native / heritage speakers of Spanish at SMS may also be able to participate. See lead chaperone.
Be in good academic and behavioral standing.
Ideally have a proficiency level of novice high or higher, in order to navigate the demands of the immersion program in Spanish.

Students need to complete all parts of the traveler packet by October 1, 2026 to be considered for this experience.
First, read this family letter. Then:
Student completes SMS Salamanca Information (Google Form). *Students will need to be logged into their Glastonbury Google accounts to access and complete this form.
Teachers complete the recommendation. Paper copy.
Student and family complete this self-assessment. Paper copy. While the family discusses together, the student completes the paperwork.
Letter in Spanish to the host family, completed after school on Friday, 9/25, or Monday, 9/28.
Parents / guardians complete and sign this checklist. *Includes details about the entire process. It may be helpful to read this first. It is signed and turned in at the end.
