Program Information


An intensive four-week non-residential program that will allow beginning and intermediate students of Chinese to develop both speaking and writing abilities as well as the understanding of Chinese culture. The program will include interactive activities for novice and intermediate Chinese students. This program is sponsored by the Glastonbury Public Schools in collaboration with STARTALK.


Rising 1st– 6th grade students who are highly motivated and enthusiastic to learn Mandarin Chinese in an intensive program. This is a non-residential program for students who live in the Glastonbury area.

Any child with an interest in learning Mandarin Chinese is encouraged to apply. Enrollment is limited to 10 students per level (1-3 Beginning or Continuing or 4-6 Beginning or Continuing) on a first-come, first-served basis. Because of the intensive nature of the program, students are expected to attend all sessions. The camp is partially funded through a federal grant and requires a four-week commitment to the program.


July 1 – July 24 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is no class on July 3rd. Students are to not to be dropped off before 8:55 am and should be picked up promptly at 12:00 pm.

Students accepted into the program receive a partial scholarship. There is a $125 tuition fee due upon acceptance into the program. No transportation is provided for this program. Refunds will not be issued after June 1, 2020.

Behavioral Expectations

Student behavioral expectations are the same as during the regular school year. All school rules apply.

This program is available as an add-on to the elementary Chinese program. The program runs from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm. The price of this program is $250 and lunch is not provided. Students participating in this program will extend their classroom lessons through culturally appropriate crafts, stories and activities.
