GHS Spanish Immersion Trip
About the Spanish Immersion Trip
During the 2022-2023 academic year there will be two options for GHS students interesting in participating in the GHS Salamanca Immersion program.
The first option is open to students in grades 9-12 interested in spending ONE week in Salamanca, Spain, in February (17th-25th), learning about Spanish culture, while studying the Spanish language. Students will attend four hours of language class each day, before setting out in the afternoons with local guides to explore the historic city of Salamanca. Students will reside in host families with another Glastonbury High School student. This program will help to increase student proficiency in the Spanish language.
The second option is open to 9th - 11th grade students interested in spending two weeks in Salamanca, Spain, in June/July (June 16th-July 1st), learning about Spanish culture, while studying the Spanish language. Students will attend four hours of language class each day, before setting out in the afternoons with local guides to explore the historic city of Salamanca. Students will reside in host families with another Glastonbury High School student. This program will help to increase student proficiency in the Spanish language.
Eligibility
Current 9th - 12th grade students may apply to the Spanish Immersion Program in Salamanca, Spain. Students must be enrolled in a Spanish course in order to participate. Students must be in both good academic and behavioral standing.
Current Status
Glastonbury High School students will next travel to Salamanca, Spain for the Immersion Program in the spring and summer of 2023. Applications for the program in the 2022-2023 school year are now available.

The Cost & What's Included
The cost of this two week immersion experience is estimated to be $2200 for February or $2975 for June/July. Included in this cost is round-trip airfare and transfers to and from the airports in both Madrid and New York. One/two weeks of lodging with a Spanish speaking host family, three meals per day while in Salamanca, as well as excursions and activities.

Completed applications will be reviewed and students will be notified of interviews.
Please read all of the following documents carefully, and complete all parts of the application. Please be sure to select the forms for the trip that you are interested in. Forms are different for each program.
Please complete all forms with care. In completing the online application you can select your interest in the February trip, June trip or both.
Failure to complete all portions of the Immersion Trip application will result in disqualification.
***There is a parent/student informational meeting at Smith Middle School on Wednesday, October 26th at 6pm. Anyone interested is encouraged to attend this session. Please note applications are due two days after this meeting. Interested students are encouraged to request teacher recommendations and character references prior to the meeting.***
